Growing plants

Family Farm 4-H club

We are excited to announce that we're hosting a 4-H club here at Fox Creek Farm. SInce 2013, the club members planted a substantial garden, which they maintained and harvested from. At the end of the summer, the club hosted a harvest dinner made from-scratch for their family and friends here at the farm. In the winter, the club does various 4-H, outdoor and agricultural-related activities.

We are always looking for prospective 4-H members. Please read on for more information!

To enjoy outdoor activities year round
To teach young people how to produce vegetables for their family
To learn about the agricultural heritage of NYS and participate in the Altamont Fair

Meetings will be held primarily at Fox Creek Farm CSA in Gallupville where we will have a 4-H garden, with some field trips.  We’ll meet on average 2 times/month starting this April until October (Saturday afternoon, 1:00-4:00), then about 1 time/month November - March.

The focus will be on 12-15 year olds (grades 7-10) . Older siblings or interested youth should consider a junior leadership position. The farm is not currently wheelchair accessible.
Cost: $55/member/year in return for the club’s 4-H Garden Share. There is an additional $ 15 annual membership fee for the Albany County Cornell 4-H, which allows the members of our club to participate in a wide variety of programs they offer, as well as the Altamont Fair.

The leaders are Raymond and Sara Luhrman, owners of Fox Creek Farm CSA.

If your child is interested in joining, or wants to come to a meeting to see what it is all about, please contact us at (518) 872-2375, or send us an email at
