Healthy Food for All

In 2015, we launched our ‘Healthy Food for All’ pilot project together with Schenectady Inner City Ministry (SICM). Our goal for this pilot year was to bring fresh produce to a food desert community in Schenectady. Our idea was that if we would overcome barriers of price and access, interest in the fresh food should be very strong (see the early Times Union article on this subject). But by the end of the season we learned that there is much more to the problem of food insecurity than access and affordability.

Family Farm 4-H club

Fox Creek Farm is home to the Family Farm 4-H club. The members of this active club maintain a large 4-H garden at the farm, exhibit at the Altamont Fair, hosts a from-scratch on-the-farm farmily dinner, learn about agriculture, and have fun!

Community involvement

Fox Creek Farm gives back to the community. The CSA donates all left-over produce to hunger relief efforts. For this we partner with the Squash Hunger project of Capital Roots and with local churches. In 2018, Fox Creek Farm CSA donated over 2,400 pound of produce to Squash Hunger alone!

We host educational farm tours for schools and other groups, and organize local events like our annual neighborhood community Christmas caroling, and community dances.
